Florence Kentucky was incorporated in 1830. The town was founded at the intersection of several crossing roads back in the day. Today it is still centrally located in Boone County Kentucky where Interstate 75 and Interstate 71 merge together through a portion of Northern Kentucky and intersect with route 42. With its location close to the interstate commuting to travel is easy from Florence for either work or pleasure. Also, with the Cincinnati Northern Kentucky International Airport just a stone’s throw away, so air travel is also very easy. The Transit Authority of Northern Kentucky also know as TANK offers bus service throughout Northern Kentucky. There are many bus stop in Florence. In addition, there is a Bus in in Florence Kentucky on Mall Road. This allows folks to drive to the hub and park their car for a bus ride or commute around the community.

Those that pass by Florence on the Interstate probably remember seeing a water tower near the Florence Mall that is painted white and red with the text “Florence Y’all” painted on the side. Originally when the Mall was going to be built the developers donated the land for the water tower and asked that it be painted with the words Florence Mall to be like a billboard along the interstate advertising the mall. The Water Tower was built before the mall and Federal law prohibited advertising something that did not exist. As such rather than pay to repaint the entire water tower it was decided to change the M to a Y and add the apostrophe and as such the “Florence Y’all” catch phrase was born.

The City of Florence Kentucky has many amenities for residents and visitors alike. Florence has its own minor league baseball team called the Florence Y’alls. The home stadium is near Interstate 75 in Florence. They offer baseball games throughout the summer with concessions and family event. The city has a variety of parks located throughout the city. Children enjoy the playgrounds and there are picnic shelters for use as well. Many of the parks have walking trails. South Fork Park has a frisbee golf course.
